As we look to supporting all students, we know that reading is the key to school and lifelong success. Students learn to read at different rates, and some need more support and time. The U.S. Department of Education has researched effective tutoring techniques that help students learn to read.
Readability uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology, speech recognition, and data analytics technology to provide affordable and equitable access to a personalized tutor for all students.
The following is a list of recommendations from the U.S. Department of Education that Readability employs:

Readability’s Program Support
|Creates a more favorable atmosphere for learning (particularly through the use of one-on-one instruction)||Students received an engaging learning platform that provides one-on-one instruction.|
|Provides more time on task, increased opportunities to read, and immediate feedback||Goals for time on reading tasks are assigned by their teacher, and students are able to read any time, anywhere, using a phone, computer, or tablet.|
|Allows for immediate, positive, and corrective feedback to help the learner stay on track and not repeat errors||Students can read leveled books and are provided with real-time feedback from the AI embedded into the platform.|
|Can increase reading performance||Students who use Readability show an X increase in reading levels over X amount of time.|
|Can improve motivation and decrease frustration||By practicing reading using AI, students can get a personalized experience and positive feedback.|
|Allows for individual monitoring of progress to ensure that learning is taking place||Reports are created based on students’ time on task, comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary development. These are available to the teacher, parent, and student.|
